About the event
Today is the day the Shop celebrates its 98 years of serving the Lee-on-the-Solent community with Books.
From day one in 1928, The Book Shop has sold Books, starting life as a Florist with a lending library and becoming a full-blown bookshop by the end of the year.
Opened by Leonard Miles – the shop was the first of his bookshops before opening one in Stubbington and one in Gosport High Street. Many will remember Miles’s Book Shop, later known as the Gosport Book Shop.
Sadly, both the other shops are closed, and the Lee-on-the-Solent one is the last one standing.
